What To Get Your Techie For Christmas
Everyone has at least a few people in their life that LOVE gadgets, that would probably BE Inspector Gadget if they could. But even if your friends aren’t quite that enthusiastic, in this day and age Everyone is an Inspector Gadget to some degree. We all love new tech, and in 2017 there’s more giftable tech than probably ever before. So get ready, here’s all the new tech anyone would love to be gifted this holiday season:
What To Get Your Techie This Christmas:
I got myself a GoPro HERO5 in black a few months ago, and I can say that it’s awesome. It’s so much fun, and I don’t even do sports regularly. I can’t even imagine how much fun it would be if I were a surfer, biker, snowboarder, or so many other possibilities. My friends visited from Japan last year and showed me their surfing footage and it was amazing!! Whether you’ve got an athlete, vlogger, or just someone going on vacation in your life, give them the gift of gorgeous memories this season.
2. Bluetooth Speaker
Whether it’s for music, movies, or video games, every techie deserves to experience their thrills to the fullest, and what better way to enhance their experience than really, REALLY great audio. There are enough cords in your techie’s life without adding speaker cords. Bring them into 2017 with this gorgeous bluetooth speaker. The sound quality is unreal, and it will still look gorgeous in their living room. What’s more, it’s portable, so you might get to enjoy it at your house sometimes, too.
No cords, fashionable, and top quality. The new iPhones don’t have headphone jacks, and more phones are sure to follow suit. If your techie recently upgraded phones, these noise-cancelling bluetooth headphones from Sony will make sure they’ve got cutting-edge quality on all fronts. Black and gold are both beautiful, and they fold up to be super portable.
[Power Boost Tech] Eufy RoboVac 11+, High Suction, Self-Charging Robotic Vacuum Cleaner, Filter for Pet, Cleans Hard Floors to Medium-Pile Carpets
The ultimate present for any techie is a robot, but there aren’t a huge number of robots on the market. Especially not ones that can be reasonable gifts. BUT RoboVac11+ is a top notch robot vacuum, and that’s pretty close. It’s smart enough to not bump into things, not fall down stairs, it automatically returns to its charging station when done, and has a remote control. What I’m only astonished by is that no one has taken the time to pimp out their RoboVacs. The best I could find was this Japanese vacuum, but come on guys! Someone stick some antlers and a red nose on your vacuum, or paper mache an R2D2 head to put on top – let’s get creative!
5. Multi-port Charger
Anker 60W 6-Port USB Wall Charger, PowerPort 6 for iPhone 7 / 6s / Plus, iPad Pro / Air 2 / mini, Galaxy S7 / S6 / Edge / Plus, Note 5 / 4, LG, Nexus, HTC and More
It took quite a bit of research to finally settle on this multi-port charger. Every techie knows the struggle of having a million cool gadgets that are all at 5% battery. If I just think of myself, I’ve got my laptop, cell phone, iPad, iPad pen, external phone battery, GoPro, there are too many things to charge! Make life infinitely easier and less stressful with this 6-port fast charger. Throw it under the desk and get some cord organizers to make their work space truly feng shui.
6. External battery
Tronsmart Presto 10000mAh Ultra-Compact Portable External Battery Power Bank Battery Pack With Quick Charger 3.0 Technology for Galaxy S8 S8+ Note8 and More (White)
Before I came to Korea I didn’t realize how necessary an external battery is for your phone. People in Korea are on their phones 24/7, and as a result you simply CANNOT let your phone die. I can’t believe I used to let it die at all before, but now that I know what it’s like to double the battery life, I can’t go back. Getting the best external battery you can afford is almost as important as getting the best phone you can afford, and if you can’t get your friend a new phone, this is almost as good. Tronsmart Presto 10000mAh is very portable, very light, very fast, and the thing that sold me was you should be able to charge your phone to 100% several times before needing to recharge the battery. I’m sold, take my money.
7. GPS tracker
TrackR pixel – Bluetooth Tracking Device. Item Tracker. Phone Finder. iOS/Android Compatible – Multicolor (8 Pack)
Since I was little I always wished I could just press a button and find my missing things. Especially after I got my first cell phone, I wished everything could be called like my phone, and start ringing when it was lost. Well, I wished it and it was granted. The future is now. Introducing TrackR pixel, a GPS tracking chip that you can put on just about anything: your wallet, your keys, your camera, to have it GPS located whenever and wherever you need it by remote or cell phone. I already mentioned how desperately I wish I had used these in my post, Spanish Thieves. Don’t make the same mistake I did. If you don’t ever want to live without it, track it.
I’ve always loved filming, especially when I go on vacation. The first time that I saw YouTubers using drones it took my breath away. But when I checked the price they were completely out of reach. Every year the price goes down, however, and these days drones can be shockingly affordable. This drone takes high quality HD video and pictures, and yet it’s only $399. You can control it with hand gestures, edit on your phone, and my favorite part is that it has tracking so it can follow you wherever you go. I NEED IT. If you need any further convincing, this is also one of the drones Casey Neistat uses.
9. Oculus Rift
Virtual reality is one of the coolest technological developments of like – ever. Virtual reality cafes and stands are popping up all over Seoul and I always jump at the chance to experience them because it really does feel like sharing a dream with your friends while awake. While my friend was in town in October we spent an hour shooting zombies in a VR arcade and I don’t know if we’ve ever had so much fun. This is the future, and IT’S AWESOME! I swear, it’s almost Inception. If you give someone the Oculus Rift this Christmas, which was the OG in virtual reality and is still the king of VR, they will, undoubtedly, love you forever.
10. Hover board
SWAGTRON T1 – UL 2272 Certified Hoverboard – Electric Self-Balancing Scooter – Your swag personal transporter awaits you. (Garnet Red)
Last but not least, HOVERBOARDS. This is new technology, so I’m really not sure how popular they are everywhere in the world, but they are EVERYWHERE in Seoul. There are literally biker gangs you can see at night but instead of motorcycles they have hoverboards. People can be seen riding these at all times of day and night, on sidewalks, bike paths, I’ve even seen them on streets. I mean, if your friend is a techie, this is about as The Jetsons as it gets, right? I’m still amazed how popular they are, but when I’m trekking through the icy winds downtown, I definitely feel jealous of hoverboard riders as they zoom past me with ease.
And there you have it! My top ten list of the best gifts to get the techie in your life this Christmas. A little bit for the home, a little bit for the road, a little bit for hobbies, and a little bit for fun. I hope this helps make your shopping a little bit easier this season. If you have more gifts to give, make sure to check out my other gift lists!
Happy shopping, happy holidays,
See you in the next one!
